Asian roots, fed by the likes of a Western lifestyle with a gentle touch of Bohemian. That’s Gyo Kretz.

The Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter and producer combines verby guitars, electronic synths and drum loops in to fine and catchy pop songs. Fascinated by Chinese dragons, Silver jewellery and some good ol’Cowboy boots Gyo simply gets his inspiration from the little things in daily life. Whether it’s an easy decision to choose what kind of breakfast you’re about to take or whether it’s this decision of a lifetime to quit your job and do something else for the rest of your life, or not. Sacrifices must often be made. With this thought Gyo proudly released his very first album ‘Sacrifices’. The sound of Gyo’s songs could make you think of John Mayer or James Bay, only wrapped up in a slighty more electronical atmosphere. Sometimes very open and sincere, sometimes a bit more dreamy and dark, but at all times straight from the heart.

Born and raised in Haarlem, a city right next to Amsterdam, Kretz started playing around with the acoustic guitar of his dad at the age of 10. Just when he got his first electric guitar Gyo started performing blues songs at open stage nights at his own school and nearby cafes. These performances led him to a booking on the Blues Stage on the well known Hungarian Sziget Festival at the age of only 16. Soon after finishing high school Gyo started touring around Europe as being a guitarist for artists such as Dotan, Gosto & Niels Geusebroek. Also Gyo started writing and producing music for more commercial artists such as Rolf Sanchez, Tabitha, Dopebwoy, MHD, Justin Mylo and many more which led him to several golden and platinum plaques. A few years later Kretz started gaining interest in writing and producing songs for himself to sing. Just when he released his first single Tell Me, Gyo began to realise that releasing music as an artist himself, instead of just being the songwriter behind the scenes, is truly one of the most complete feeling that he ever experienced in life. ‘Sacrifices’ is now listenable on all streaming platforms!
